I know alot of people are struggling with their corn crop and I almost hate to say mine looks very good right now, but it does. I have got 160 units of N on it prep lantern and sidedress. My ground can make 200 + bu. With the right weather. Should I have another 40 or 50 units flown on now? It's just starting to tassel. Thanks and good luck.
Here it's common to apply 20-30 lbs N at that stage or just before then Not uncommon to run 20-30 lbs on after tassel. But that's through the pivots. Figure application cost at $2 /acre to cover the injection equipment and the hassle and we know it's crop accessible immediately. A little different than your situation but if the crop looks really good and you're likely to get a rain within two weeks I'd probably do it.
At least you're pushing a good looking crop rather than trying to salvage a poor one.
