NE CO
If the field has had atrazine applied in previous years, the degradation of the atrazine will be more rapid as well. Dale Shaner at USDA-ARS in Fort Collins did work in our area about 10 years ago and found that some critter ( and I am using that term loosely) actually built up and ate the atrazine. I tend to only use atrazine every 2-3 years to maximize my bang when I apply it. There was a big difference in the half-life of atrazine in soil samples I provided him and there was good correlation with shorter atrazine half-life and more frequent use of atrazine in most fields.
