Northeast CO | Trying to help my father in law with his pickup. It smokes like crazy when you put your foot in it, and doesn't have the get-up and go that it should. Here's the things I've checked
Air filter is ok, turbo spins freely, vacuum pump is putting out 15+" of vacuum, Wastegate actuator holds vacuum, theres 15"+ of vacuum at WG actuator at idle.
WG actuator rod moves freely when off, can't move while running. WG Solenoid has power and ground to it. When you unplug the WG Solenoid at idle, vacuum at WG actuator drops from 15"+ to 0.
Doesn't seem to have any audible boost leaks.
Other than a plugged exhaust, what else is there to check?
