Subject: RE: Looking to buy a new lawn mower. Need advice

Floyd County, Iowa
If you do a search for "mowers" or "zero turn" you'll have many hours of reading, and that's just this year's discussions.
That said, I wouldn't trade my front deck zero turns (we have two: his Grasshopper and her M&W) for ANY tractor type. I'll never go back to tractor. As someone already said, the mowing time will be cut in half.
Just do your homework on brands (they're all discussed here) and type- midmount, front deck. They both have their advantages, and all brands and types have their fan clubs, so you'll have to tailor the choices to your specific needs.
Consider these questions- Ditches or just flat? Smooth/rough lawn? Mow under low hanging trees? Regularly mowed or just when it gets 6" tall? Bagger? LOCAL SERVICE for parts or repairs? (they ALL break down sometime) One operator or multiple users?
In any case, just be sure to get a commercial deck- the blades turn faster and do a better job in all conditions.
And ask for a demo when you narrow your choices down to two or three.
just my 2 cents
