Most of the soybeans shipped from Brazil to China already avoid the Panama canal. The ships out of Paranagua and Santos sail east under Africa and through the Indian Ocean to China. Only ships loading in northern Brazilian ports would use the Panama canal to get to Asia and the Chinese tend to avoid those ports... though the Europeans love them for their cheaper freight.
