| Maybe everywhere else has short lines at the elevator at harvest besides here. I can dump a truck in under 20 minutes into a bin when harvest wait times can easily exceed an hour or two during peak times. Not to mention the rail crisis we had here a few years ago.
I put up a couple of modest bins (48x8) for harvest ease alone. Basis was just bonus.
Harvest cash price (off of the field at harvest last fall) here after basis was $8.30-$8.80 for beans and $2.85-$3.10 for corn. Today it's higher than those numbers and plenty was sold much higher than that over winter with better opportunities ($10 cash beans and $3.60 cash corn). Explain again how it's better not to own bins and to just wait in line and sell cash price at harvest. | |
