Buxton ND | I'll go so far as to stay VERY LITTLE of the corn sitting in storage has had any carry locked in. Must is sitting there wide wide open to any movement in futures or basis. The thing is about selling the carry is your actually HAVE TO PULL THE TRIGGER.
The thing about selling the carry, THE CORN DOES HAVE TO BE IN THE BIN***** Yes many will not like this idea but the carry can be sold BEFORE the bushels are in the bin (even before you plant it.
Grow it.
Bin it.
Sell it (or should I say "haul it")
You still get to fill the bins.
But again any idea that the most will not like.
Bottom line here is, if your a flat pricer (which many are) bins HAVE NOT PAYED the last 3 crop years (yes this includes 2012's crop) over forward contracting (remember the carry and bins can be used here also) Even though you forward contract the bins can be used (selling the carry) | |
