NW Montana | I settled my step my fathers estate last year and everything went to my mother.
It was very simple and did it all with my mom. He did not farm or have many investments so that made it easy.
Your BIL is conniving, or appears to be so I would be as proactive as possible
Remember he is retired and has nothing to do but think of ways to get this money.
You need to be 3 steps ahead as what ever you do will tick him off and may make resort to more extreme measures.
If the FIL is of sound mind you should explain to him whats going on and have him appoint an attorney as executor for his estate.
This will relieve stress and will be money well spent.
Choose your battles wisely as he, the BIL, has much more time and energy to spend on this than you do.
Executors don't get to make rules they are there to carry out the wishes of the deceased and take care of legal obligations. | |
