| The Dietrich shanks work fine for corn silage ground or ground that has been baled.
For corn stalks that haven't been removed they are a crap shoot at best. They can work fine on one side of the field and not at all on the other side of the same field, same corn variety @ the same population, and on the same day. Disking first makes it worse unless you have a disk that really buries stalks and if you do that you're gonna loosen up a lot of dirt making it hard to pull the tank.
If I was buying new I would look into the big wavy coulter/vertical till type setups. They look nice, do a nice job and don't have the plugging issues that shanks can.
