You are right on the 2008 being an eye opener. I did not know squat about this stuff before then. I would have drank the Kool Aide right along with everyone else. I had learned a fair amount about investing because of my interest in my retirement accounts. But banking and politics were about the last thing on my mind.

And you are absolutely right that we should be able to trust the "experts" and the average person should not have to worry about this stuff. But the foxes have all been put in charge of all the hen houses, and like you said, the trust is gone. So we are forced to educate ourselves on matters that we should only need to trust people within the industry. But we no longer can.
