| All went to UHF at the switch over date.
At Des Moines channels 5, 8, 11, and 13 returned to VHF on their original RF channels after reworking the transmitters and antennas for digital. Channels 17, 19, and 23 kept their temporary new channels. The major networks, ABC, CBS, IPTV, and NBS are on VHF. Somewhere in the country there are stations on channels 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 low VHF yet. Way more moved than returned.
Unfortunately lots of supposed digital TV antennas are on the market that are UHF only. Fortunately the surviving VHF antennas still work for VHF digital stations. UHF receiving antennas have been a problem for the broadcast industry for half a century, many didn't perform well enough so UHF stations have tended to be the poor stepchilds of broadcasting.
Today many a "digital" antenna is a simple antenna with a built in preamp and preamps are better today than they were a decade or two ago.
