I doubt that dropping all of the emission controls would see engines getting significantly simpler. They would still be utilising common rail fuel systems, 4 valve heads, variable geometery turbos and the like to get the power and efficiency. 200hp 4.5 litre, 4 cylinder engines are just around the corner (I think there might be one on sale now), I doubt you could get that kind of performance with an old inline pump.




Your missing the point. The emmissions stuff causes more issues then it truely cures.

By the way who in their right mind wants a 200HP 4 cylinder??? Work doesn't get done by HP alone. Its torque! Old 6 holed engine will work the pants off, then beat that 4 cylinder with its own pants.

Old saying(that is still true). NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT.
