You test the cows you have, and keep colostrum from the negatives. This is more than a little difficult to do with beef cows. Btw..We had a closed herd up to and including 100% ai breeding when we caught the disease. Only way I can figure out we got it was the neighbors were buying cattle at the sales barn, and we were downstream from them. How you manage johne s in beef cattle is a mystery to me. Im just glad we got through it alright, and havent had it back since(knock on wood) | |
