My vet declined to do one for me recently, saying it isn't effective on calves over 6-700 pounds. This was at 4:30 on a Friday afternoon, though.
I resisted the urge to butcher him immediately and he will always have a limp, but it looks like I will be able to finish him at least before I have to take him to the butcher.
