Southeast South Dakota | i DONT KNOW IF THE PLAIN OLD pci BUS HAS ENOUGH SPEED OR CAPACITY FOR usb3 - BUT i DONT REALLY GET INTO THAT -
I bought a $30 USB 3 card to throw in the PCI E slot of my slimline HP computer -
I like it - plug in a USB3 SATA hard drive adapter on to a SATAhard drive nd i GET TRANSFER SPEES OF LIKE 50 TO 70 mBPS - COMPARE THAT TO ABOUT 4 OR 5 mbs USING THE usb2 ports and the same drives on the computer -
It is great for moving large image files of backups or throwing movies onto flash drives
One additioal note - many USB devices suck more power than the average USB port can put out - USB3 helps that out somehow, but the card I bought takes an additional power feed right off the power supply to supply extra power to the devices you plug in....
