the way my farms are broke up here in west tn its more of a 7-10 days to put down anhydrous and plant the corn and beans. This past year it took about 12 days of running to get the crop out with my 1440. had several break downs which is not normal but I dont like to get behind either. My wife has good income so i don't have to make as much as if it was just me. I have a farmer I can help part of the year and he is going to be retiring in a few years and has said I could rent his ground and possibly buy some when he does retire. Thats much of the reason I would prefer to find something that is not full time per say so I can keep a good relationship with him and start learning his farms along the way. Thats one reason I was thinking of driving my truck for hire part time. Just wasnt sure if there was a better option. As far as trade skills, I am proficient with carpentry and mechanics, but lacking a little with electrical.

Just tell him you need a full time job to pay the bills and help him on the weekends as much as you can.

200 acres and helping a farmer a little bit while relying on the wife's income wouldn't cut it for me. You can do as you like though.
