Wi | Ours get moved out of calf barn at two months. Building is sectioned into four 52 calve units and we move them all out at the same time, then pressure wash everything and let it sit empty until we need to start filling a couple weeks later. This has helped cut down on a lot of diseases. In the winter they get moved into large pens with barns or super hutches for shelter, in summer a lot go on pasture especially older ones.
The farrowing barn could work great, if you need more air exchange put a fan in the wall with a ventilation duct running through the barn. Get some poly panels to use for dividers. They cost more but are Much nicer to clean. I attached a picture of the setup in our barn. You could obviously go a much cheaper route using hog panel or something.
I also attached a picture of some calf condos we no longer use.
We used the calf tel plastic hutches when we needed to keep extra calves outside.
