Blame Mother Deere and the others for the competitive rent market.

It is simple, it just doesn't take much work with the modern equipment to farm 1,000 acres. So what do guys do? Take the efficiency the gain in equipment advances and bid it into land.

How many acres could you farm with a 6 row planter vs 12, 16, 24, 36, 48? Guys can plant more in a day than most farmed in total 50 years ago.

I wish it wasn't that way, I wish everyone could farm a couple hundred acres, raise some livestock, and have a nice life, but that's just becoming less and less of a reality.
