| GIPSA isn't primarily concerned with measuring exports, but rather the inspections of exports (quality, weight, etc), while the Census is responsible for measuring all imports and exports of everything and not just grains. That GIPSA compiles export totals is a nice sideline of their main focus and for the grain trade it's nice to have estimates that are somewhat up to date on a weekly basis rather than lagging for 2 months like the Census reports do. | |
