X2..........frost or freeze is one way to get the moisture down. You have to be ready to go!

With an upright silo, you will have a mess if you direct cut it before it makes the head and may need to wilt from frost as well.

Baling and wrapping will work with it wet as long as the baler will handle it.

Instead of waiting on a frost, I think you can also spray with glyphosate as a harvest aid if you want to know when you will be chopping. Check the label of the glyphosate product if you are considering before doing this.

Letting it head out will lower the quality, but increase the tonnage dramatically. Sounds like you have enough cattle to eat up this much silage and more, so I think I would go for tonnage and plan on supplementing the TMR with some sort of byproduct to bring the engergy and protein up as needed. DDGs, Gluten feed, brewers grains, hominy feed, wheat mids etc are all possibilities depending on what is available in your area and the cost.
