You can cut it let it lay a few days then pick up with chopper, we do this for a feedlot with rye or tricale every yr, but they pick it up just few hours behind. Last time we cut sudan for silage, we waited till after it froze and direct cut it. Even waited a few days before chopping ad was still fairly wet, but made good feed.
