Northwest Iowa | Just a couple thoughts. Revalor 200 is a final implant only, and very aggressive at that. Research has shown that too aggressive an implant on a low energy ration can really affect the grade of cattle, so I think that may be the major cause of too many no rolls and selects. Also, Rev 200 tends to cause 'riding' issues in steers. If you noticed any riding, that could be your dark cutters. The industry mostly uses Rev 200 as a final implant(last 120 days) in heifers. With that long of a haul, just for your own curiosity, you may want to weigh the truck empty, then loaded, at the local elevator before you send them down the road. Do that a few times and you will get an idea of what your shrink really is. Should be 3-4% on that long a haul. (1%/100 miles) | |
