Williams 82 is a very old bean.  Wouldn't that be like comparing a modern hybrid like 6533 to a 40 year old hybrid?

Here, the public beans have yields has high as any in the university plot.

4 bu at $10 is only $40 per acre but when you add in seed cost and chemical cost and long term considerations, I am not sure they are that much better?  A non GMO premium can wipe out the $40 difference alone here and many places.
