Subject: Roundup ready beans are a bargain.

Coles County, Illinois
I pretty much go by the U of I variety test plots when selecting seed. Although my yields don't exceed their winners, I usually exceed the average of the plot. This evening, I decided to look into Non-GMO varieties and specifically public varieties for the opportunity to save the seed. I'm only interested in Group 3 beans and looking at the averages the RR varieties exceeded the Non-GMO varieries by 4 bu/acre.

Further disappointing results were that The average RR beans beat Williams 82 by almost 20 bu/acre. Williams 82 was a very popular bean
here way back when. So as much as I dislike the high cost of seed, I'd be foolish not to use it.
