I agree completely. Many different reasons too. Cattle guys were hurt, drought guys experienced increased input costs but lower gross, many lost ground to guys wanting to farm it all, etc. Every farm is a completely different business structure so crop prices affect them completely different. I'm hoping this helps me, as increased crop prices didn't help due to dairy and drought. I also sell excess crops so I will lose on that front. Nobody knows exactly how this will turn out until it is over. I'm not wishing for higher or lower prices, more stable prices might be nice. Heck, I could wish for lower prices so my dairy, my main income, was more profitable. What happens if that crashes land prices? I could have a couple bigger farms I rent be sold out before it hits rock bottom. I'm not in a position to purchase them so I would lose a huge land base. I'll just continue to try to make the best financial decision I can based on the current market conditions.
