Western Illinois | Belinda- We are small scale but out of the 10 heifers we calves the last 2 years we pulled 20%. One came backwards at no fault of the heifer. I believe it greatly depends on the bull used but I am also pull happy. Once I see hooves I dont give her more than an hour or the calf is coming out. They are worth too much to wait too long.
We seem to not have a bit of trouble with the heifer calves but you get an odd ball large bull calf that can cause some problems. The pulls have always been very easy pulls so they may have had the calves on their own except for the one that tried coming backwards. | |
