Richard, like you, I never considered farming a job. I always thought of myself as very lucky to have been in a situation where I could make a good living without having to work. But then there comes a time when you should ask yourself, "What's the object of the exercise?"

The big reason I didn't farm until I died was the desire on my part to see the farm dad started, continue and flourish as his descendants carried on with it. No way to know how that will turn out if I keep farming until I die so we gave the next generation a shot and we went on to other things.
