Have a JD 7720 with 7k hours and an IH 1066 with rebuilt motor both running on SAE 30 oil. I'm in process of changing 7720 oil and I see we are out of SAE 30, wondering about switching it to 15/40 like rest of our equipment? The book says 15/40 is fine I just wonder about doing this with so many hours, currently doesn't use much oil and I don't want to change that. Thanks in advance, trying to make this decision today.

Not sure if you are real concerned about brand or not? I started getting oil from Feece Oil right up by you. The best deal on oil is the Kendall Super DXA Semi Synthetic 15W-40. It has free oil samples and was $9.95 in drums delivered. I run it in everything possible from new to 50 year old antiques and so far the samples are good. Still run Amsoil in a lot of other machines but feel this oil is good for the rest.
