Wi | The more extensive repair is a section repair. Not something I would waste money on a tire that old. Not sure if the shop would even do one on a tire that old.
Nothing wrong with section repairs, I've had them done on fairly new tires that get a puncture out of the "repair zone". If the tires older it's not worth it. Cost is less than $100 for truck tires. It's usually performed at a retread shop. They cut out the bad area and put new material in place then cure it and it comes out close to new. Better than a plug patch but not as good as a new tire. There are limits to what they can repair though. Doesn't cost much to let them check though.
