Subject: Combine tire repair. Can this tire be saved??

68340

Have a 17 year old Goodyear radial, good tread.  18.4 x 42, 2 star tire that is the inside tire on a JD 9400 combine.  Bin extension and 8 row corn head.

It has a small hole about 8 inches out from the rim that is leaking air.

One tire shop said they might be able to remove it and take it to Salina, Ks for a more extensive repair than just putting a boot into the tire.  Cost from $150 to $400 at the worse for this repair in Salina.

New tire is about $1,300 plus installation.  They say this new tire has a 7,600# load rating and is just as good or better than the 2 star tire I have on now.

I could go to a 11,700# tire for about $1,700.
