If you are getting 50 long you aren't planting thick enough. I've always heard if your ears are filling all the way out and not tipping back just a bit you are losing yield from not planting thick enough.

In a perfect year I expect 16-18x40ish long. But a lot depends on the hybrid too. Some can be 20 around and not yield as much as a 16 around.
