Tim in WI is correct about the carb tuning, it does not have to be a monthly ritual. +1 on the good oil too, and a zinc additive would probably prolong the life of a flat tappet cam.

Pro-Comp cylinder heads are not super high dollar pieces, but they are preferable to a worn out cast iron set. Try a google search on pro comp heads. Lots of happy customers and some horror stories too.

Without knowing the static compression ratio, quench distance and camshaft duration, we are still slightly under-informed. The torque converter is spot on, the gears are good, and the transmission is likely bullet-proof. It sounds like a well sorted combination and I bet it runs real well.
