Oliver,
We have Generacs. They may start immediately, but I think they wait about 14 sec to verify that power isn't "blipping" on-off-on-off etc. Just long enough for all digital clocks to start flashing.
Also, one second will drop off any relay device. Probably .00000001 second will allow drop-out of relay.
