Subject: RE: Cattle and Working in town

East, Central Ontario
I don't know much about feeding Holsteins but I feed colored cattle, I have been farming and working in town for about 8 years and am finally big enough that I can farm fulltime. I feel that you either have to have enough cattle to be at home or just stay in town and cash crop. Its a nightmare to try and do both. The money you make in town you are losing part of that on the farm due to not keeping cattle clean enough, missing a sick one. Not getting implants on time. etc. At least you have access to familys equipment which is a big plus. But working nights and weekends get old when your friends are out on the boat on sundays. jmo.
