| Just because an organization issues a press release does not mean that the newspapers magazines will carry it. I know cotton groups have met with editorial boards of new York times and others trying to develop relationships with them to improve coverage of cotton issues. It has helped but they are not totally supportive. Often the powers that be just ignore farmers. While we might feel like the money that goes to check offs but the environmental groups dwarf those moneys and there members are much more active in writing and calling they we are. One of farmers strong points is that we are a very independent lot. One of our biggest weaknesses is we are a very independent lot. We are also very good at shooting ourselves in the foot. Like Pogo once said "We have met the enemy and he is us"
