| It's possible with the DirectCommand & Autoswath to set the look ahead for both the turn on & turning off of the boom sections. These setting are usually different for each sprayer depending on the type of boom shut off fitted.
Also the distance from the GPS antennae to the rear axle, the distance from the rear axle to the hitch point (3 point hitch, drawbar, front linkage etc) needs to be set.
Also using a good accuracy GPS with at least 5hz update rate will help the accuracy of the Autoswath control.
If your hooked up to the Autopilot you will also be getting roll corrected GPS information to help with the accuracy.
In other words the amount of underlap or overlap is mainly down to the settings & how much you would prefer to overlap, one things for certain no one has ever claimed to be more consistant than the Autoswath.
I have had customers suggest it isn't turning on soon enough, the only way to prove it is to go with some marker posts, measure out the distance from the headland pass & knock the post in. This usually does the trick!
