Sliding sideways downhill you mean, on greasy fields? Yes that's a good point.
The fieldball is very simple, imagine a tube with rollers above it, within a frame to allow it to turn/move. There is a housing on both ends to stop it going sideways. If you pick the frame up, the ball stays on the ground.
