Grabill, Indiana | I am not a fan of using traited corn IN OUR AREA. We just don't seem to have the insect pressure found in the western part of the corn belt yet.
We plant mostly RR only hybrids and this year we have a side-by-side comparison between non-GMO and RR only sisters, a 106 day and 111 day hybrid. I and seveal of my friends are looking forward to see the differences between the hybrids.
Unfortunately it looks like the major seed companies are forcing us to use traited corn with their RIB marketing. I attended a plot tour yesterday and was told that there would be only 2 non GMO and 3 RR only hybrids available in our area next year. Everything else would be a RIB. That is not the way we want to go on most of our farms. | |
