central - east central Minnesota - | billybob - 5/2/2013 07:35 I had some leakage by my window last night. We had strong winds from the north, this wall faces the north. About 1/2 rain.
Could it be possible that the wind blew the rain up and into the vent in the awing and then the rain ran down the inside of the wall and leaked by the window?
Or
Is it most likely the window leaks?
Or
Maybe the builder did not use calking around the window before they nailed it on and it is leaking around the window?
This is going to be a fun one.
PS It leaked on each side on the top of each of the small side windows.
I'm of the opinion, based on the little info provided and pic - the leak is around the windows. Either by the flashing, below the brick or in that area. I'd be on a ladder and checking for appearances of where water could get in. If nothing else - pressured hose spraying in area, and someone watching inside the house for leaks. I highly doubt, any water entered through the soffet venting on your over hang . . . . It is possible, that water could have "hang" on the brick out cropping around the windows and allowed water in, if the mortor is cracked or not sealed completely . . . . small chance through. |
