Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | I didn't realize there were sweet corn finger meters. When we had finger meters for corn, we used them for sweet corn also. I guess they were OK but probably didn't work quite as well as they did for field corn due to the roughness of the sweet corn seed.
Later we went to a vacuum planter, it was one of the first ones and did a very poor job with sweet corn. I traded the boxes to get the newer style and got the sweet corn parts. These later became known as the Pro 40 style which worked quite well. This was for sweet corn on the commercial scale, not the pick by hand type operation. |
