Subject: Re: Sweet corn finger meters

Ringwood, IL (NEIL)
I tested the old meters. They ran 95.5% on the test stand with Rupp brand seed that was 2,300 seeds/lb. the seed resembles small raisins like someone above mentioned. Again, I've never dealt with planting sweet corn. These meters are ancient and have never been tested. What struck me about the seed and the meters is just how much and how sticky the seed treatment is. The meters are caked with it. I ran some seed through a new standard PP meter and it ran 97.5%. The treatment built up on the meter parts even after just one run. I'm cleaning up the old housings and ordered backing plates and PP sweet corn finger sets. I can't wait to see how they run then.
