Subject: RE: Reduction gear starter question

Missouri
That Denso starter is a great way to start a 4020, but I don't think it will fit them all. I think the ones with the drop style manifold have interference issues.

Ours spit out it's original delco starter several times. Decided to rebuild it one last time, and went to a different guy. Told him about the issue and what we wanted it to do. I don't know what he did to it, but it was the original starter, rebuilt, yet again, but it spun that motor twice as fast as any of the other times it was rebuilt by the other places.

If I had one to do again, plan A would be the denso starter, but if that didn't fit, finding the right guy to rebuild the delco unit is a solid plan B.

I know the delco is not gear reduction. I'm reasonably certain the denso also is not.
