I had a huge poplar taken down last week, it was about the same age. My father used to tell me his father and his uncle planted it when both returned from WWI alive. I would have let it standing but it was a safety risk. I had not reckoned it was THAT hollow though! It was on my tight yard and there were a lot of roofes under it, so I wasted no idea of doing it myself. The contractor who did it is a fellow farmer who went into the tree removal business. He has more than proper machinery for that and did a great job. Took the wood away as well, I did not want to deal with it as poplar is of little value even if not that rotten. Thanks for sharing your pic, good job of taking it down and a great value in wood.
