Chris
I do not understand your message...

first why do you need to heat hot water?......SHOWERS, BATH, DISHES..MAKE HAPPY WIFE
second if you want a water heater to last do 3 things
1. whole house water filter on inlet of water heater...NOPE DON'T HAVE
2. drain water heater every 3 or 4 months......DRAIN ABOUT 2 GALLON EVERY COUPLE MONTHS
3. put a water softener before the water heater.....HAVE THIS...

I think that Chris is playing with you a little, but I totally agree with him. There is no need to heat hot water, you heat cold water to get it hot.

I am also wondering how you can put a heater on the out side of a house and not have things freeze.
