When I buy 4-500 # weight calves(not dairy) I figure a 100 bushel of corn +$100 bill-to a 1100# weight-they usually weigh more but try to cover any mistakes-So Im figuring 700# of gain or $700 +$100=$800 or $1.14 per # of gain -I dont feed strictly corn-but that is the figure I came up with after feeding many years-The $100 bill is usually my profit-has been times I gave up that $100 bill,but try to never give anymore then that. My math on your Holstein is $1140 for feed + $415=$1555 or a loss of $85 or $15 loss your feed cost! Looks like you better run some real numbers or get more for you fat calf
