Central Nebraska | I have built countless computer for myself and former employer. I have never got into building super high performance gaming PCs but have built many workstation computers, video surveillance servers, virtual server hosts, servers to backup workstations, firewalls, network attached storage devices, and IP PBX phone systems. I find the challenge of building a solid machine with open source software more satisfying that purchasing a commercial unit. The phone systems, virtual servers, and firewalls are the most satisfying. At one point I considered doing it for profit but the customer service aspect of it turned me off. Has anybody played around with Untangle for a firewall or Asteriesk (or variation) for a phone system. | |
