| The Perkins grant/money is for all CTE programs, which you are only allowed to purchase certain items or equipment and NO consumables "metal, pipe, welding wire, seeds, greenhouse trays, flower pots, potting soil, etc". My program consists of Agriscience "intro to AG", Principles of Agriculture "2nd stage", Greenhouse Management, agricultural leadership, and agribusiness. Here in Tennessee the students can receive a college credits for Greenhouse Management, Agricultural Leadership, and Agribusiness buy paying $60 and passing a 100 question test at the end of the class. They will receive 3 credit hours per class that is transferable to any Tennessee college. Which I think is a wonderful deal whenever it will cost them $600-$800 a class if they take it at the university. Also by having them receive college credit in high school this increases their chances of going to college and going to college as a agriculture major. | |
