Martinsville, Ohio | Great comments, similar to my experience with aquaponics at CNE High School. It was the highlight of the whole district and community and not for the weak of heart. I befriended a couple of janitors who kept a close eye on it for me overnight.
I would go see some working units and talk to the instructor before I got into it. It was fun but hard not to take away from the other courses I was teaching. Plain hydroponics would have been more appropriate for our community east of Cincinnati. Raising tomatoes takes a lot of space and heat, lettuces are easy, other veggies somewhere in the middle.
I would talk to some teachers using those units before I bought one and got myself committed to that. When I retired they tore the unit down because my replacements couldn't manage it.
I won't say it drove me crazy or into retirement but both happened afterwards, LOL.
