| Gary, Good to hear from you. Concerning Euope all you hear is about D-Day and Normandy. The units that I named made amphibious landings in North Africa, Sicily, and two landings in Italy. All these were made prior to the D-Day landings so these units learned a lot of important lessons that were used at Normandy. So I thought that this was a good operation to bring up. Same with the Pacific as all you hear is Iwo Jima and never hear of the first landing at Guadalcanal. Tarawa was another tough one. I had a cousin who was at Guadalcanal and Tarawa and he got killed on Saipan. Jim J | |
