Cedar Rapids, Iowa | When SATA first came out, most motherboards had both SATA and PATA so that you could run your hard drive on the SATA and use a CD drive that was PATA. You can put hard drives on both interfaces at the same time if you want to. There is no reason you can't put drives on both at the same time. There will be a setting in the BIOS where you can tell it which hard drive to try booting from first.
